A blue green scene with a touch of ochre

‘There’s bananas in the Co.’ In 1945 or 1946 there was great excitement in an Ayrshire village as few children had ever seen a banana. Once they had seen one, and indeed tasted one, many felt disappointed because expectation is often a more powerful force than realisation.
