The Lop-sided Pine
This strange looking pine tree is quite a landmark in the Taylor River Reserve. This view is looking upstream towards the High Street Bridge.
We’ve had quite a balmy, almost warm autumn day. It’s hard to believe that a cold snap is moving up the South Island and snow is predicted to 300 to 400 meters in places like the McKenzie Country and parts of inland Canterbury. And it is still autumn.
Leaf-fall is happening with a vengeance in my garden . I have several big deciduous trees which drop large amounts of leaves. Too many to mulch. So I have a system of raking and putting them into large wool sacks. Then I take them up to the Green Waste centre , empty the sacks for a very modest fee. Those leaves are then turned into compost. . A good scheme.
