Furry Flower Friends

Pulsatilla vulgaris 'Alba', the white Pasque flower is beautiful in all its forms. Look at how it traps air between the hairs to keep it warm on those freezing nights at high altitude. This shows the hairs and the melted frost droplets.
Today it felt like summer for the first time, I had to wear a headband to soak up the perspiration (not sweat, I am a lady after all) on the walk up to this col. You can see the Grand Mouveran in the distance, another 1,000 metres to get to the top of that; not for today!
