The Way I See Things

Faded

The season marches on.

My beloved male plumpies are all gone now, though the females are still zooming about, working on their nests. There are fewer and fewer mining bees around, and I haven't seen a bee-fly, of any description, in about a fortnight. Even the Red Mason Bees, which only emerged about a month ago, are now fading to an elderly magnolia - though they're still ridiculously fast, and this image owes far more to luck than skill. The plant is green alkanet, which has a reputation for being invasive but which I find very useful, because the tube-feeders like it, and it comes into flower just as the pulmonaria is going over.
