From nowhere!

Down to Strichen park this morning to walk the dogs and see how the swans and their family were doing.
No sign of the swans and their young at first but then they appeared from the other side of the lake and started swimming towards me.
I started counting them - seven, and again and again, but still only seven cygnets.
Very disappointing, but that’s nature I guess.
I watched the little ones swimming around and around eating the chopped up greens I gave them.
And then I noticed a dark mark on the mum’s back and a little head appeared.
She had been well tucked down in her mother’s feathers and hidden from sight.
