Particles

I happened upon Mariam at the water cooler, peering into a full glass.

‘I have seen some particles’, she announced.

Particles were low on my list of priorities today. I had more pressing dramas such as fending off the crows who plague the hotels along the coast and divebomb people taking their snack break outdoors. I must have unwittingly drunk many particles courtesy of the water cooler, but I decided these were not going to be the reason for my downfall.

Several hours later Mariam sent me a photo via WhatsApp with the offending particle identified. I don't know why she's wasting her talents in conservation, when she should be taking the forensics world by storm.
