Absorption capacity
We have finished a week of workplanning and strategy thinking and everyone in the room was braindead by 6pm on a Friday. When no one could be roused for final comments, a colleague gently informed the management that we had perhaps reached absorption capacity, which mercifully led to the meeting being wrapped up.
As we packed up, another colleague described the week as ‘soul-destroying’, which was tongue-in-cheek, but not necessarily untrue.
Later the unflattering workshop pictures were circulated on the WhatsApp group, along with a great cacophony of back-slapping and congratulations. I wouldn’t say we look like we’re having the time of our lives, but we have advanced our planning for the next five-year period in terms of how to tackle pressing environmental and sustainability challenges.
