Life in Sunny Dubai

Desert drive

As we currently have a (newer) reliable car, a drive out to the desert had to be factored in this weekend.

We enjoyed a lazy, unhurried morning. I was thrilled to have done over an hour of ironing by lunch. That leaves less for the next session. :))

We ventured out at 4 PM, choosing a drive to check out articles we had been reading in the local media. We have had more rain than usual this winter. This has resulted in the desert flourishing with flora and fauna. With over ten days since the last storm, large areas of shrubs and "grass" are still visible. It looks good, even if it is contradictory!

G took all the pictures. She spotted a herd of sheep grazing, so I did a U-turn so she could get a proper picture. Lastly, we drove past the Big Red, which doesn't look so big anymore! It also appears to be enjoying some respite from 4WD/SUV owners trying to conquer it! They have moved on to bigger dunes on the other side of the road.

We were home by 7 (YAY!). It didn't take us over an hour, stuck in traffic, trying to get into Karama. G made delicious Chinese soup for dinner, and I started on a new video for Pentecost, which is tomorrow.
