McArthur’s Park bread
I was up at dawn (well, 0830) to make bread.
My go-to recipe has an equal mix of strong white flour and wholemeal flour.
I have been using a hearty wholemeal called Cotswold Crunch flour and the results have been very good.
But today I had only about 130g of the latter, and needed 354g. So I made up the balance with Dove’s Farm wholemeal flour.
It made a superb, light delicious loaf, shown here and with an open egg- mayonnaise sandwich, with snipping of chives.
Why the title?
It made me think that I would never have that recipe again, as per the words of the song.
…….MacArthur's Park is melting in the dark
All the sweet, green icing flowing down
Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'Cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, no…….
