Richmond Hill Open Gardens
To day I went with a friend to tour round the open gardens on Richmond Hill. 19 gardens were open and we visited 12 taking about 3 hours as they were quite spread out plus we needed a refreshment stop! My blip is in a small street of cottages in the ‘Alberts’ area where many of the residents have lovely front gardens and one courtyard garden was open too. I liked the wisteria painted on the outside of this house …wishful thinking maybe! I was impressed that they had put up bunting and also all the cars on both sides of the street had been moved elsewhere…a rare sight to see a street with no cars, like it would have been when these houses were built. In contrast on one of the roads which has very large detached houses ( see extra) we saw two lovely gardens which had been redesigned and laid out in the past five years …no expense seems to have been spared with lots of high quality paving, plant walls, amazing greenhouses and water features. However we spoke to the owners and they were genuinely very enthusiastic about their gardens and knew their plants but…they did admit they have gardeners to maintain things.
It was a very warm day so we felt exhausted after lots of walking and a warm bus ride home!
Luckily my friend had watered at the allotment so I only needed to do my garden which was much needed as the hydrangeas were wilting badly.
