An overcast morning (again). I’m used to the haar in May but this year it seems permanent. Still, it meant I could get on with things inside. Now that the roundabout near us has opened up after nearly 3 months (a collapsed culvert under a railway bridge) I was also able to head to Fort Kinnaird shopping centre knowing I would not have a long detour getting back.
I bumped into a former colleague from Orkney who was down visiting family. Not seen him for 4 years until the dinner a fortnight ago!
Then off to meet church colleagues to sort out distribution of a letter about the proposed union. Much is done by email these days but not everyone can access it.
It was then a question of writing and stuffing envelopes and working out those that can be delivered by hand. All done in time for the last post. But it did mean being indoors while the sun shone.
As I delivered some local envelopes, the gardens looked in full bloom. This distinctive magnolia caught my eye as did the azaleas and rhododendrons which this year seem more laden with bloom. See extra.
I do hope the letters arrive on time. A Canadian cousin had to post apologies to many of her friends for the delay in her Christmas card. It was about 3 months late - because the postal service hadn’t collected from the box!!
Not as bad as one of my Christmas cards was received only yesterday by a friend less than 2 miles away. Maybe I should hand deliver that this December?
