End of term!
Today was the end of term (and the school year) at Luke and Adam's school - it was a very busy day, starting with an early morning chapel service followed by Prize Giving, which is not as boring as it sounds - it is incredible to see the very talented school leavers collecting prizes for some amazing achievements. Adam collected two prizes himself which was rather good. It was incredible hot today and in the marquee where the prize giving was held, it was pretty sweltering, everyone fanning themselves with their programs.
Then outside to enjoy a picnic lunch on the lawns. Most groups of parents erect a gazebo for shelter from the sun (or rain, as was the case last year). After lunch there was a stupendous performance from the School Symphony Orchestra - this year we were treated to the full works of Sibelius 5th symphony - impressively tricky in parts.
After the classical concert we had the jazz band playing popular jazz tunes...Fly me to the moon...
This photo is one for my journal rather than being a good photo. Luke is standing next to his friends after playing in the symphony concert - hence he is still in his suit whereas his friends are more casually dressed, with his trumpet case dumped in the foreground with his jacket slung over it. In the background you can see the row of gazebos with the parents eating lunch. Our party was in the gazebo on the right.
It was a lovely and special day but rather exhausting, particularly in the heat. Now home and trying to pack away all the end of school stuff!
I may not get to comment on journals today but will catch up....
