Pukekawa is the true name of what is now known more widely as the Auckland Domain. In the same way that only the Te Reo name (Pukekawa) loses a lot, so does the English name (Auckland Domain)

Many of us would like to have the possibilities offered by having both names. 

The City of Hamilton is centred on an important Maori settlement. The name of Hamilton was given at the end of the New Zealand Wars, to acknowledge an English military leader, and much land was given to ex-soldiers. 

There is a move to acknowledge the history of Maori settlement and cultivation by attaching the name Kirikiriroa. Something I support
