Plymouth Barbican Pirates Weekend
I took my guests to Mount Batten on Sunday morning for an easy walk in warm sunshine. The Barbican area of Plymouth across the River Plym was busy with the annual Pirates Weekend in full swing. A couple of Spanish vessels were in attendance one of which was a replica galleon. ( Don't mention the Armada ). There was plenty of activity on The Sound with many yachts and pleasure craft on the water. Later I provided a 3 course lunch which was well received. In the evening the French party departed on the overnight ferry to Roscoff. This marked the final formal Twinning event between our 2 villages for as we oldies shuffle towards the end of life's perch, no younger folk are joining and this is true of very many organisations not only here but in France. Friendships built up over 35 years are not easily broken and many of us intend to carry on informally in the same way as we meet up with all our friends.
