Identity badge

Here is a tiny puzzle for Tiny Tuesday. This was produced by a friend who used to run an antiques business. He doesn't know where it came from other than the Glasgow area. It is metal, 37mm long by 30mm wide and is attached to a leather wrist band. It appears to be of military origin and it would be interesting to find out more about it and why it has such an elaborate picture engraved in the centre. Thanks to Incredibish for hosting.
