The Pacific
Sue's mother and father drove their eight children north from California to Yachats to teach them about smelt (no longer there), sea stars (almost disappeared), agates (now very scarce), and the power of the ocean (still rolling and cracking, dancing and glinting in the sun).
Sue's dad built a little cottage in Yachats for the family to use in summer. Now Sue and a sibling keep the place up, and sometimes other members of the family congregate to enjoy being there again, remembering. I get to tag along, blissful in gratitude.
