Wet and Wasted

The rain has been non-stop and quite heavy all day.
We have a bank of oversize conifers and Northern Powergrid said they would come along and reduce them in size so that they wouldn't interfere with their power lines.  Today was 'the day'.  Our trees and some neighbouring trees were to be trimmed, and to do this the power would be off all day.
Men in hard hats and hi-viz waterproofs appeared along with two 'cherry pickers' and a wood shredder. Up they went, chainsaws to the ready - and then it all stopped.  Why?  There was a wood pigeon's nest in the trees.
Nothing can be done until the nesting season is over (end of August) so they packed up and went away.
What a wet and wasted day .......
