Room with a view

There seems to be an abundance of companies providing an inter islands ferry service in the Cyclades, all well equipped with escalators and decks just for dogs, but expensive compared with Caledonian MacBrayne.

We arrived in Andros mid morning, the minibus took our luggage and we walked a couple of kilometres or so to the hotel which has the most magnificent location, mostly definitely several steps up from where we have been for the last 6 nights. All the rooms have a sea view, a shower that doesn’t leak and a restaurant where we will eat tonight.

I walked back to the gloriously custard coloured beach near the port and spent several hours reading and swimming. Next to the bakery where I had lunch there was a hardware store where miraculously I found a cheap pair of swimming goggles – the sea in incredibly clear with small tiger fish everywhere, and something else small and agile that jumps across the water. I’d left my phone in the hotel so the blip is the view from my room.

Later, after an excellent meal the conversation inevitably turned to a companionable discussion on politics. I hope my postal post arrives in time although I am somewhat thrawn, having the highest regard for my local SNP MP.
