Flying into Majuro

This is flying into Majuro in the Marshall Islands - I thought we were going to land in the sea at first - the Marshall Islands are atolls - very flat and susceptible to the tides and climate changes. As I write we just heard that exceptionally high tides have flooded most of the island and no planes can land at the airport.

The U.S. carried out a lot of nuclear testing in the Marshalls which has caused a lot of cancer in the people there. They subsist on grants from developed countries and from the goodwill and charity of kinder nations. They are a peaceful, gentle people and didn't deserve their fate.
