Wild Wednesday ...

... Eastern black swallowtail. 

Of the six black swallowtail chrysalids that we have overwintered since last September three of them have emerged.  This is number three.  The first one emerged whilst we were in England at the beginning May and was released by our lovely neighbor and cat sitter.  We were worried that all of them would emerge while we were away and we would miss them all.  But most of them have waited until we returned so we can witness the butterfly's "birth".  One emerged yesterday but I failed to get any pictures as he was very ready to leave the enclosure that he has spent the last 9 months in!  Go figure!
