Abbey Road

Yes, I know it’s cheesy, but it had to be done. And, unlike a lot of the people doing the same thing, I tried to only cross when there was no traffic around. I’m sure if I drove along there regularly, I’d get pretty pissed of with all the groups of tourists recreating the album cover (with one of them being barefoot seemingly a compulsory element of any such recreation) and holding up the traffic for several minutes whilst they get their picture taken. Didn’t see anyone famous going in or out of the studios, but did get a few souvenirs from the shop.
Despite having unlimited tube travel courtesy of our Travelcards, we chose to do a lot of walking today. From Abbey Road we walked past Lords cricket ground and down Baker Street to Oxford Street. A spot of lunch in M&S and a bit of shopping provided a welcome rest before we made a brief tube journey to Lancaster Gate. From there we walked slowly across Kensington Gardens to the Royal Albert Hall. And then walked straight past as we wanted to grab some tea before the concert starts and there’s not really anywhere suitable (cheap) nearby! We’ve covered 12km so far and there’s probably another 3 to go before we’re finished for the day.
I’ll be glad of a sit down whilst Mr Clapton entertains us tonight…
