It’s been that kind of day
A month’s worth of rain has fallen on Edinburgh today. It has been heavy and constant. I waited until mid-afternoon before heading out to the shops. It had eased to that of standing under a light shower.
The local shopping centre, when it opened nearly 40 years ago, was flooded when the local stream - the Braid Burn - burst its banks. It normally is a gently flowing stretch of water but, as can be seen in the extra, it can grow quickly in volume.
Major flood prevention had to be put in after the initial flood and, as can be seen, it seems to be working. But not elsewhere. The city by-pass has been closed both way for hours due to floodwater.
So a day for snuggling in - at least for our visiting canine!
An evening zoom for me planning the annual flower show at my former office. All the plants and vegetation are bent over laden with water but with some warmth and sun they, and the weeds, will no doubt bounce back.
