Van Gogh Museum
Our last day in the Netherlands. We went for breakfast in our “usual” cafe before packing up and checking out of our hotel at midday. Then the train into Amsterdam and baggage stored in left luggage lockers. We went back to the museum area and this time visited the splendid Van Gogh museum. Vincent could never have imagined having a whole wonderful building dedicated to his short life and work. I found the whole experience very moving.
The weather improved as the day went on and was beautifully sunny when we came out of the museum. We had a bite to eat at a place near the station and then travelled out to Schipol in the evening for our late flight. We arrived back to a very wet Edinburgh (looking at blippers’ photos had forewarned us about the state of the weather), caught the bus and then thought we were going to have to trudge the remainder of the way in the rain, but Chris managed to spot a taxi which brought us back home just after midnight.
