Orchid Hunt

As we move into the orchid season, I was looking for somewhere local for my search and found a blog about a potential area on nearby Brentmoor Heath, although the writer was bemoaning the disturbance caused by the recent laying o a new major gas pipe between Southampton and London.  Nevertheless, I headed out to investigate.

I hadn't visited this part of the heath before, but it certainly lived up to its local name, Folly Bog, and there were orchids in evidence. It was still a bit early and the best examples were deep in the bog. Still, I managed a few shots even if my feet did get wet; I was wearing walking sandals, so no big deal!
