Apparently there were issues with the front door yesterday and we could hear banging throughout the afternoon/evening. Turns out the handle and lock were being changed. 

Well, when I left for work this morning, I noticed that the front door handle was lying on the ground!  It looked like it had been forcibly removed. It was fixed by the time I got home thankfully. They replaced it with a pull door handle, likely because they are more difficult to vandalise!
