This is a view of a key part of the staircase in our "rustic" holiday rental. A barn conversion apparently, with a reused staircase that didn't quite fit. No spirit levels had been used anywhere in the renovation and the stair treads slope downwards slightly to aid in exiting the building quickly. Just be glad there is no photo of the extension cable at the back of the hob or the chimney clean-out panel in the shower cubicle. The bathroom door is hung the wrong way so that when you open the door you block the staircase.

The rental is through the local vineyard but they forgot to include wine glasses....
