The second half of life..

Tennis history

It's a little known fact that I am the owner of the tennis racquet that Fred Perry used in 1936 when he won the Wimbledon Championships for the third time . . . . . . the last time a Brit won its own tournament.

When Fred turned and belted the ball high into the crowd (as all champions are inclined to do) by way of a celebration, some unsuspecting colonial caught it and tucked it into his bag . . . . and now, miraculously, it appears here with Fred's own winning raquet.

Or maybe I just dreamed all this . . . . . ???

Whatever!

Andy Murray could be Britain's dream-come-true if he wins tonight, and I for one will be glued to the box, waiting to catch the ball that he ceremoniously belts high into the digital stratosphere after that final winning forehand clips the white line and zips past Djokovic . . . . .

Bring it on!!

(Serendipitous note - today is my 1935 blip - tomorrow shall mark my 1936 - Andy shall be crowned Wimbers Champ just like Fred Perry in 1936!!)
