Tall Ships

As it was such a nice day we decided to try out the Tall Ships Festival at Gloucester Docks. What a palaver getting in. There was a huge queue with signs saying avoid the queue by buying tickets on line. Which we did. It took about 10 minutes and I had to register an account and give them my life history. Then we went to go in and were told we had to queue anyway. 'They shouldn't have put those notices up or claimed you could avoid the queues on the website' was the official response. By now the queue was even longer. After another 15 minutes or so a steward came along and suggested people with tickets go to another gate which was very quiet. So a few of us walked about half a mile to the other gate. There was just as big a queue there, but, phew, they were buying tickets and we eventually found the quick way in. 

Once in it was a bit disappointing that there only seemed to be 6 tall ships. There were lots of fun people in costume and the main blip was my favourite shot from the day. I thought I should add a tall ship as an extra though. Some visitors got on board some of the ships but we could only get 'land lubber' tickets. Also lots of entertainment, example in second extra.

In other news we went to the acoustic night at the Wheatsheaf yesterday evening. We had a nice pizza and salad on the outside terrace. The music was OK. Unfortunately at the break some very loud music started up in the garden next door, very near our table. They started with 'The Revolution Will Not Be Televised'. Luckily when the acoustic stuff started up again they turned their much louder stuff off.

In other other news I just enjoyed watching the cup final. My preferred result.
