Why bother swimming in the pond when there is a rather splendid new puddle right in the middle of the grass.  That area in Maxwell Park just dries up in time for the next torrential downpour. This morning there were six male mallards enjoying having the puddle to themselves and not having to share with the squabbling Moorhens or Tufted Ducks.
