Department Q

Today's blip is of the Volunteer Arms (also known as  Staggs) in North High Street in Musselburgh. 

The reason in am blipping it, apart from it being a brilliant real ale pub (according to CAMRA) is that it is a filming location for the new 8 part Netflix series, Department Q.

Department Q is based on a best-selling series of crime novels by Danish author Jussi Adler-Olsen and centres on guilt-wracked Copenhagen detective Carl Mørck, demoted to a cold case unit after a botched raid in which his partner is paralysed and another police officer killed.

The original books are set in Copenhagen, however, because of the authors annoyance at how his first 5 books were filmed, he has decided to move the location to Edinburgh, apparently. 

The series will star Matthew Goode, Kelly McDonald and Mark Bonnar amongst others. 

Watch out for this new series, it could be good, especially since it is being directed by Scott Frank, who directed ‘The Queen’s Gambit’.
