Soldiers in the village
WEDNESDAY
I spent most of the day out in the garden.
Next Thursday (6 June) marks the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings which was the largest seaborne invasion in history. Along with the associated airborne operations, it marked the beginning of the liberation of France and western Europe.
To mark the occasion, seven military silhouettes have been placed at the village triangle.
When I was a child I used to watch "All Our Yesterdays" on TV with my Dad. The programme often featured events of WW2. It never really dawned on me at the time how recent the war was in my parents' memories.
