Memento

When my grandparents' house was sold a few years ago, the grandchildren were each allowed to pick a few mementos.

I asked to keep some books, some of my grandmother's costume jewelry, some of her handbags and this glass sculpture.

For years, it had sat in my grandparents' dining room window. Now, it sits in the window of my childhood bedroom in Michigan.
