Coat Of Arms
I had a parcel to collect at Tesco so I walked down to the village this afternoon. Did a bit of shopping as well.
Got my blip shot while I was out. The Wide Wednesday theme is " shape". The shape I chose is the coat of arms for Gateshead which is on the side of one of the planters in the village. Thanks to BobsBlips for hosting.
The present coat of arms was formally adopted by Gateshead Council in 1975. The basic symbolism of the coat of arms is a simple pictograph - a gate (or portcullis) and a head (or helmet).
When I got home I popped round to see my next door neighbour Jackie. She had messaged me earlier. The front fence between our houses needs replacing and the broken wall at the front needs to be repaired ( it was knocked over by someone reversing their car into it ). Jackie has got some quotes and she just wanted my opinion before she gets someone to do the work. Jackie works full time as a teacher so I don't see her very often. Its half term this week so she is on holiday. It was good to have a catch up and hear her news.
I pottered around for a while --- keeping my eye on the clock. Lily was due at the vets at 4pm. Lily did not get to the vets at 4pm. She was a " no show " again. I phoned the vets to cancel the appointment and I will try again another day.
As the weather was lovely - warm and sunny - I went into the garden and chopped a few more branches off the fallen lilac tree. Ive done as much as I can myself with the tools I have available so I will have to get a tree surgeon to deal with the rest.
Around 7.30pm we had some really heavy rain. It was lashing down - but it didn't last for long.
