Warkworth Castle

After visiting the enormous fortifications of Warkworth Castle we walked down into the village of the same name. 

Extra. My eye was taken by this carving on a lectern in the village church. It is a Christian symbol that I have seen elsewhere on old gravestones. The pelican pulling out its feathers to feed its  young on  the blood is a symbol of piety.
