got some cash together to pay my builder for the extras he did, and was struck again how nonsensical the Scottish currency in circulation is. Three different banks, a host of different designs, (none especially edifying) and the cause of much confusion for retailers all over the UK and beyond when they’re presented. So hard to know what’s genuine, with counterfeiting such an issue, and technically only Bank of England notes are legal (rather than ‘accepted’) tender. I’d much rather have a single British series of banknotes, taking the jingoistic hot air out of the equation, and helping our hard-pressed small businesses.
