Garden visitor
Yet another full-on day, with very little time to take photographs.
Fortunately I had the camera in the kitchen early this morning and was able to grab a shot of this occasional visitor to our garden. He was sitting absolutely still, staring at me for ages, pausing only to shoot an upwards glance as a bird flew to the feeders beside him, and then resume his staring pose when the bird saw him and flew off, alarmed.
We’ve had just one carpenter here today, finishing off all the window screens. They look terrific, and he’s done some wizardry to make them fit because we have old-fashioned brass stays to hold the windows open, which protrude beyond the frame. That means the screen has to be deep enough to accommodate the end of the brass stay, but he’s managed it really well. We also have pelmets on some windows which reduce the depth he had to work with but he was unfazed and sorted it out.
At the moment I can’t imagine ever needing to open these small windows though – it’s been really cold today so it can’t possibly be 1st June tomorrow!
Smithers and I have just finished feeding the kitchen-less troops again and are about to collapse on the sofa for a well-earned rest.
