poor old Dad!
We planned an afternoon to the coast a little while ago and it was the best weather! Dad is on such a combination of drugs now he is no longer able to drive (I have considered today that I should at least try driving lessons myself) but he enjoyed being a passenger when Paul took us out and we now have the benefit of disabled parking as Dad's permit came through.
Despite everything Dad insists on being independent but I wish we hadn't let him storm ahead as he got to the bottom of the steps by the pier and promptly lost his balance falling flat on his face. Pretty horrifying but three key passers by were super helpful, giving us wet wipes for the blood (so much blood) and went off to get first aid from the lifeguards whilst we got Dad sat down and pressure applied to his wound. He was so lucky he didn't break anything, just a massive graze on his cheek and forehead.
He was quite the trooper and wanted to carry on and get ice cream and we managed to really enjoy the afternoon together. by Dinner time he was coming out in quite a bruise and I think that whole side of his face will be black and blue as well as grazed. So, here he is with his ice cream and his good side! off to bed now, so very tired, I'll go see him in a couple of days time.
and this blip this day last year was truly awesome day in our family's history when Paul carried the torch!
