Patterns

Friday: knitting in the garden with friends. And cake. Rhubarb sour-cream coffee cake with a crunchy almond topping. The fog lifted and it is so lovely to sit between the lemon tree and the tomato plants, trying to keep track of all the various conversations around me. Talk of health issues (always), travels, knitting projects, grandchildren...any gaps are filled by the birds singing from the nearby trees. The students on the other side of the fence are blowing bubbles, shimmering rainbows that dance over the roses. Bubbles! we are as delighted as small kids, laughing and pointing up at the sky.
