Common Sorrel
Had a lovely walk along the disused rail line after watching Andy Murray's triumph at Wimbledon. With the sinking sun the swathes of tall herbs were a delight to walk through. Although there were exotic orchids, vetches and dog roses nearby, I was struck by the beauty of the grasses and wasteland 'weeds' like this Common Sorrel, Rumex acetosa. With the right view and in the right light all plants are miracles of form, colour and pattern.
