William Heaton VC

Found a lovely sandstone War Memorial in Victoria Park, Ormskirk, today. We’ve driven past this small park so many times on the way to Southport, but never knew the memorial existed.
MrsB took a pic of the monument itself, but I spotted a newer addition set into the floor nearby, to this local VC recipient from the Boer War, who served in the King’s Liverpool Regiment, and also went on to serve with them in France during WW1.
