Vandals!

The magpies have vandalised my bug hotel. In their greedy search for food they have pulled out all the tubes that were supposed to entice bees etc to lay their eggs in them. It has often happened, and I usually push them back, but it is beginning to look very tatty so maybe it will have to go.
We have just watched The Derby. We are not really interested in horse racing but we are near Epsom, and as a family we were able to walk there on Derby Day. It was a very different event in those days, the 1940s, with a fun fair and traveller caravans and far fewer people. We saw The Queen as she was driven down the racecourse in a limousine from Tattenham Corner station to the grandstand. It was so exciting.
