Surprise Find

Mel's birthday today and we had a lovely day popping up to Scone Palace for the garden fair being held there, and as we were in the area, swung by an auction house that we'd won some items at.

I'd got a few little lots of old cameras, that I'm intending on giving a new life by cleaning up, then moving on with eBay. Lurking in a job lot was a little pouch with 'Sanyo' stamped on it. Turns out it contained a very early pocket calculator (from 1972, a year after the first became available). It's possibly worth about as much as I paid for four lots containing about a dozen cameras, given it comes with a power cable, and actually works (though the batteries, being 50 years old, don't seem to hold a charge, but the orange gas-driven display comes up beeautifully clearly when plugged in).
