AND THEY'RE OFF!
It's been a rainy Sunday, for the most part, at Road America. It started just before the noon hour and once it started it just wouldn't quit. We're in one of those wet patterns the weather people always talk about. They got this one right....we've had measurable rainfall 22 out of the last 34 days.

Superbikes beginning Race #1. Bikes were going down all day long and the Superbikes were right in the mix. One notable "step off" happened to Cameron Beaubier in Turn 1 just after completing the third lap of a 10 lap race. He went a bit wide and hit the kitty litter. Instead of sliding he tumbled for some distance. He tried to get up but fell forward when he put weight on his leg....right one I think. Some workers helped him off the field and later I saw him being carried by two large men. Haven't heard how he is or exactly what the issue is.

EXTRA: This is a group of women who built their own rides...all of them Royal Enfields. Part of the year long course they take, in addition to cycle maintenance and construction, includes an introduction to cycle racing at several race venues. They actually do an amazing job and turn out to be very good riders. For those who don't know much about the sport there are actually quite a few women riders among the ranks at all levels of competition.
