The assault on the remaining Munros continues.
A 4.30am pick up (!!!!!!!) by co worker and occasional Munroist chum (I counted 14 Munros with Fi) and off we went; rather spendid sunrise as we crossed the Forth and battered up the M90 / A9 and ended up west of Fort William at about quarter to 8; all set to tackle Gulvain - a hidden Munro about 7 miles back from the Road to the Isles.
Forecast was for sun, and from the get go that's what we got.
It's a gentle meandering path for the first 4 miles or so; along a river, through / past conifer and birch woodland. Before you are confronted a 700 metre grassy wall with a path that zig zags off up up up.
There's nothing for it but to roll up the sleeves (metaphorically - I was in a t shirt) and bash on. Much later we eventually levelled off and hit the southern top; the true summit is inevitably a further km down and up but is a delicious dipping ridge with hazy panormas all around.
A pleasant sit in the sun for lunch, facing first east to the Ben and then for dessert facing west towards Knoydart.
And then the small matter of returning by the same route. Not a busy hill - 8 others were out and about. I'm guessing there are other more exciting things nearby to draw the crowds - Creag Meaghaidh car park was rammed.
Home before 7; bathed, ate and Loki sprawled out beside me as I didn't really watch the Champions League final.
251 down, 31 left. Fi has 162 done; Loki's 29th Munro
