"Stinking or Foetid Iris"

Iris foetidissima well named, the crushed foliage has a very distinct aroma. Supposed to smell of "Roast Beef" hence its other name, "Roast Beef plant " but only if you have a vivid imagination. This plant has recently appeared, as very large numbers of orange seeds will be displayed in about 3 months, and I presume the birds arrange for suitable dispersal. The extra close up shows the guide markings for the bees, showing the way to find nectar.
