Taxing

In 2020 as I became an employee again, HMRC told me I didn’t need to do a self employed tax return again. As I was not self employed. They recently fined me a sizeable amount for…not filling out my tax return forms. I pointed out it was difficult to do when they’d removed me from their system and, besides, I was paying tax at source. Their solution is that I pay the fine, fill in paper forms as I can’t access them digitally, and then they might repay the fine when they get the forms. A less than thrilling way to spend Sunday afternoon. Needless to say, I now can’t find some of the paperwork I need because I didn’t think I needed it.
