Riley car

Went to a little car rally at Ellerton today and this was the only Riley on display.

I always look out for them as I regard them to be a link to the maternal grandad that I never knew.

He was called Patrick Suthers and restored Riley cars back in the day and rumour has it that he even wrote a book about them (albeit I’ve never tracked it down!)

He had a couple of Rileys himself; 1937 and 1951 models - both model 12 I think. I have his old log book which is a lovely keepsake.

I was really taken with the aeroplane on the front of this one.

It was a beautiful day for a mooch around some gorgeous vintage cars, so happy days!
