Chicano Art

I visited the town of Riverside for the first time. It's a place that you only know from driving by on the freeway. I learned that is was the richest city in the USA per capita in 1895 due to the citrus industry. The city is named for its location beside the Santa Ana River. Riverside was founded in the early 1870's.
The reason for a visit today was the JUDITHE HERANDEZ art exhibit at the CHEECH CENTER for Chicano art & culture. Cheech was the actor in the cult movie: Up in Smoke.
There was an antique car show in town, there was an ANIME show in town, they have a pedestrian area with antique shops, restaurants and live music. There was sooo much going on. Everywhere were the people dressed like a character from Anime, and I had to look this up, it is hand-drawn and computer generated animation originating from Japan.
And then there is this incredible hotel and spa THE MISSION INN, founded in 1876, it is a historic landmark hotel, which is build in Renaissance Revival architecture and many other styles. In the beautiful patio we had a wonderful Mexican meal in an incredible ambience.
All in all it was a wonderful outing with our special tour guide Robert. He is organizing these day trips, hikes, beach camp fires, museum visits and many  more. There were only 3 women on this tour and I knew both of them, one is a 'regular' and these trips and the other beautiful lady from Belaruse was in my pilates class.
I already sign up to many more trips.... to be continued.
