Box of colour
It was a gloriously hot, sunny day. The solar panels on the roof generated over 30 KWH of electricity ( a record this year).
We spent a little time working in the garden this morning. The blip show one of the boxes at the front of our house, now full of Californian Poppies, Love- in- a- Mist, Garlic Mustard, Red Valerian and Buttercup which are all self seeded.
This afternoon in the back garden I spotted what I believe was a Brown Argus butterfly (rather than a female Common Blue ) on Cut-leaved Geranium which is a food plant of their caterpillars. (I took a few photographs, but not good enough definition to be completely sure.)
Martin got the new scythe out, and successfully cut the grass in the tortoise's enclosure. Late afternoon, when it was less hot, we went to the wildlife area, and he scythed a couple of the over grown paths, while I raked. We were pleased with the results, so a return visit seems imminent.
