Walking is a sport, isn’t it?
So we’re staying in this beautiful lodge near Drumnadrochit with 21 other people and loving the mix of personalities. I helped Stuart (one of our two hosts) chop a mountain of veg this morning for roasting before a lovely cooked bacon and poached egg breakfast.
After making some sandwiches for lunch a few of us headed off to Dog falls near Glen Affric. Some opted for the longer 18km walk but we did the shorter(!) route round the dog falls and plodda falls. The route was a little more challenging than I had anticipated and I didn’t really enjoy the 100m scramble down a steep slope (the last 10m on my bum) or the 20m scramble up the bank after crossing the stream but it was a bit of an adventure. Fording the river and being ankle deep in my boats was interesting but again proved quite refreshing!
The falls were spectacular. A delicious BBQ and salads for dinner was much appreciated by all.
A fine evening putting the world to rights. Will look through the MonoMonday entries over the next couple of days.
